The Cabbage Soup Diet Review

Let's talk about the famous Cabbage Soup diet. People who are keen on dieting have certainly heard of this one and many of them have actually tried some version of it. As we failed to find inventor of this diet, there is no definitive cabbage soup diet, but mass of versions floating around magazines and the Internet.

Whoever tried to promote this diet has either added or changed an existing feature, which means that besides the above mentioned cabbage soup you can expect to see a wide range of other foods, although nothing spectacular.

What are the disadvantages?

What is the most dangerous about this diet - is that the description of the results contains lots of rumors - some claim that cabbage can burn fat, which is an absolute nonsense, other say that one could loose 11 pounds in a single week on this diet, which is, put it mildly, not true .

Cabbage contains NO magical ingredient that helps to weight loss. What is the purpose of this dies - and the idea is to starve yourself by eating cabbage soup and some water on the side - this will keep your stomach filled with hunger away while the body burns fat to maintain itself.

The roots of this diet tell us that early version cabbage soup diet featured nothing else than the basic soup. Up-to-date versions have included fruit, vegetables, skimmed milk, lean meat or brown rice to the eating plan in order to help people stick to it for a longer time. Alcohol is prohibited and the only drinks that are welcome are water and unsweetened fruit juices. There are full scopes of soup variations - soup is cooked with cabbage, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, carrots and mushrooms additives.

We shall confess - cabbage soup diet is a bad diet. We don't think you'll be able to starve every day, especially people who have to go work. Other important issues is that most of the weight lost through this diet comes from water and muscle mass, instead of fat and this can mean only the following - several days later the dieter remain all the initial fat on and gets a good chance of replacing all the lost muscle mass with even more fat. Low calorie will make your body to enter so-called starvation mode and will reluctantly get rid of the existing fat. This is not a good way to lose weight.
