The South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet is the oddest diet in the jungles of the international weight loss industry. You can find many people who love it and can swear that this is the best one, while others find it hard to follow to the obligatory induction phase.

This diet is considered to be the low-carbohydrates group of diets and has been derided as a fad diet, although its apologists claim that it is not a fad diet and that it is, in any case, much more responsible and healthy than Atkins. Not many diets are less healthy than Atkins.

Those who stick to the South Beach Diet can find that their food intake is decreased to low fat dairy products, nuts, vegetables (most of them, anyway), lean meat, seafood, eggs, artificial sweeteners and several of carbohydrates of the low glycemic variety. The first phase of this diet also called "shock phase" is when you are restricted to eat most fruit and vegetables, just like the rest of carbohydrates. Quite a number of dieters find it hard to cope with the low energy level, the irksomeness and sometimes nausea that accompany this phase but we must state that not all dieters experience these symptoms and this is sufficiently depends on our genetic make-up.

The very idea of the first phase of this diet is to remove simple carbohydrates (sweets, pasta, bread) from the food intake and replace them with a more healthier complex carbohydrates from wholegrains and vegetables. Marketing approaches with mottos like “lose weight fast” spoils the atmosphere of the diet and makes it sound like a fad diet due to the tough first phase of the diet, which sacrifices the long-term healthy eating approach for an instant satisfaction technique. Please be advised that such approaches will make the dieter lose a lot of water and not that much fat.

Second phase of the South Beach Diet which provides lots of sensible eating advice and the recipes are very good. There is an option to get pre-packaged South Beach foods for those dieters who have no time or desire to cook for themselves. Taking all considerations we are concluding that the South Beach Diet is not a bad idea if a dieter who could focus on the healthy eating part and the good food choices. You should not forget these good eating habits if as you’re looking to keep that weight from returning.
